Celebrating New Moon with Essential Oils

and how the Moon Phases affect emotions

Most people have heard the belief system that a Full Moon can make us act a little strange, perhaps even crazy. Is there actual truth in this belief?

The science behind this statement compiles us to take a look at the mirroring of the tidal influence on our physical and emotional bodies. The gravitational pull of the moon on the waters of the earth is what creates the tides. At the new and full moon, the pull it exerts is at its strongest, because the sun, the moon, and the Earth line up in a relatively straight line. The sun’s gravitational pull adds to that of the moon, giving us the highest and lowest tides.

If our bodies are at least 70% water, it stands to reason then we too, would be affected by the pull of sun and moon, just as the tides are. While we aren’t being “pulled” physically, the emotional pull is certainly there.

Historically speaking, the ancients knew the affects of the moon cycles for women especially. Hence why we now call a woman’s monthly cycle, well, her “cycle”.

Biblically, there are an astounding number of references to the New Moon alone, beginning from the book of Genesis all the way to the letter to the Colossian church. Turns out, the moon phases were some what of a big deal to the Hebrew people, and to their God.

All lunar phases represent some aspect of transition. Healing with the moon cycles creates a desire to listen to our intuitive selves. It allows us to dive into the depths of what we need, and let inner wisdom speak to us. Taking time to listen inwards on the new and full moon will amplify your healing journey and deepen your connection to your body’s wisdom. By syncing with planetary rhythms we can find our rhythm of self-care.

Applying Essential Oils with the Moon Energy

Essential oils can have a powerful and healing effect, which becomes amplified in highly energetic times like a new and full moon.

Friday, September 18th is a New Moon, and according to the Hebrew calendar, a new year. This is one of those dates we must see as can appointed time, one to look to and see a new beginning, much like we would for the beginning of a school year, or harvest time or any changing season for that matter.

The moon, stars and planets are given to us as guides for signs and seasons, harvest and plantings, beginnings and endings. (Genesis 1:14)

Give careful attention to them and you will begin to see the fruit on your own life. Apply essential oils to your daily practice and not only will fruit come, it will remain in your life. That is a promise.

As we embark on a new season on moons this next month, gather your oils, dear friends and align with the season our Creator is preparing for us next.

  • Begin your day with Abundance- The oils in this blend create a release of somatides in the brain sending out frequencies to attract an abundance of what you focus on. Be sure you focus on what you truly desire.

  • Choose Cypress next- Cypress gives way to an abundance of circulation within the blood vessels and lymph system. Open the body to flow in perfect harmony with all God has for you.

  • Have Lavender on stand by for those moments that try to pull you back into the old patterns. Lavender will replace your mind and body- easing you into your new month, your new beginning.

  • Finally, we finish with the uplifting citrus oils- Bergamot and/or Grapefruit. Citrus brings a feeling of gratitude and joy as it is inhaled and historically, citrus fruits are a sign of great wealth. Finish off your application of essential oils with these two spirit lifting and focus enhancing oils- diffuse all day for maximum benefit.

However you decide to observe the New Moon, let the spontaneity and the other special times it reminds us of guide you to a meaningful personal expression of thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness to us from month to month. The moons represent so much, look to the heavens for those signs. As we move through each lunar phase we can use the power of essential oils to connect at a deeper level with the energy that is available to us. Essential oils are potent not only when it comes to supporting our physical well-being but also they are amazing energetic high vibrational tools we can incorporate in our daily life.

Honoring the moon reconnects us with the Earth’s rhythms and our natural cycles. When we are in sync with nature, it is easier to listen to ourselves. Healing with the moon cycles also helps us make time to listen to our intuitive selves. It allows us to dive into the depths of what we need, and let our inner wisdom speak to us.
