bring calm to the mind, set them free
When my son had cancer I just assumed if we could figure how cancer is made then all we needed to do was to unmake it. It seems simple and probably naive but it worked.
I prayed, and the Lord showed me to change our diet dramatically, remove toxins from the home and begin to help his cells heal by applying essential oils on the skin.
With something such as ADD/ADHD it’s the same thing. Understand how the condition presents itself in the brain and begin to help the brain function in the way or was designed to.
Oils to help the mind healing from ADD/ADHD
Brains that manifest ADHD have low levels of a neurotransmitter called norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is linked arm-in-arm with dopamine. Dopamine is the thing that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure center. The ADHD in the brain causes it to be impaired in activity in four functional regions of the brain.
Lavender oil, Vetiver oil, coconut oil and Cedarwood oil are just some of the essential oils that can assist it to retrain itself.
Even if they don’t directly help reduce ADHD symptoms right away, certain essential oils will help children with ADHD in other ways. These oils have properties that are soothing, quieting and calming, and reduce anxiety. All of which can only help ADD/ADHD
HERE ARE THE KEY OILS
Feeling stressed and anxious can make focusing even harder for kids with ADHD. And many kids with ADHD also have anxiety and depression. Hence why these essential oils can only help. With the current state of the globe, children need these tools more than ever. They typically won’t tell you and with wearing masks in schools, teachers are unable to read depression signs as well as they use to.
A leather bracelet dabbed with an oil of choice is ideal or make a roller bottle to keep in their pocket.
The other side of the coin is this-
Food matters with ADD/ADHD and what they eat is as important as what they do not eat.
In this day and age we are all aware of the truth that what we put in our bodies is as important as what we put on it. Conversely, what we do not put on or in is as critical. Depending on who you speak to and how advance a medical professionals training has been, many doctors have realized the truth of food affecting our overall health. Years ago, however I did have a nurse tell me that sugar did not have any impact on the growth of cancer. Yet, the cancer lights up in a PET scan simply because there is a sugar substance injected in the body...
Being your own advocate is a wealth of resource.
Even if a child hasn't been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, the foods they eat can create symptoms of this condition as they cause the cells to mimic this.
In addition, many people, adults and children alike, have been found to have low levels of Omega-3 fatty acid and with an addition of supplementation the symptoms are reduced greatly. If you have yet to add OmegaGize to yours and your child's regime, now would be an excellent time as Summer is perfect to adjust and assess behaviors and food/supplement choices. What we know is Omega-3 fatty acids affect the transmissions of some neurotransmitters (brain chemicals). While a balance of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids is best for overall health, the typical American diet contains too few omega-3s.
ADHD and omega-3 deficiency share two symptoms:
Excessive thirst
Increased need to urinate
Easy to assess with those two factors.
When you look at the dramatic increase in this condition in children really you only need as far as the plates of American children. In the past 3 decades, the food choices have rapidly declined in nutritional value and yet our kids have had an uptick in medical conditions. So much so that researchers speculate this is the most unhealthy generation that has ever lived.
In general and guideline as far as what to have on the plate is so basic and truly unnecessary to discuss, but for the sake of form, let's chat it out.
Fruits and vegetables
Whole grains (I have some fascinating info on gluten issues, frequencies and the brain, stay tuned!)
Legumes
Fish, particularly the cold water fish, not the kind you find in TX. Sorry friends.
Be sure to take Ningxia Red and Multigreens as these are wonderful gap fillers. What I mean is, they add in where your diet leaves off.
Again a solid and healthy set of food choices yet if you're like me, I need to hear it over and over and over so that when I am tempted, I pass and say "no thank you." Many of us would give our lives for our children ,yet I see carts filled with the following and we are compelled then to ask the question- 'why the atrocity of foods in the cart'?
DO NOT TOUCH LIST
Artificial colorings and food additives. Of course we know this, yet how many of us on a whim make homemade sundaes for fun with the kids and get sprinkles rather than jimmies and forget the boatload of artificial coloring in those little bits? Just me? Or who has taken the time to peruse the cereal boxes only to find there are preservatives that would keep a cow well embalmed for 1000 years? It is alarming to say the least.
Sugar-sweetened drinks. This is one that is rampant in our culture especially in the sports loving community. Except there are quite a few athletes in this group who would tell you first hand, the last thing any child needs on the ball field is a gatorade. In the health and wellness world, sugar is considered legal crack.
Candy
Colorful cereals. Like the additives listed above, colorful cereals are not found in nature. We can do better than give ourselves and the next generation harmful dyes before a big day.
Processed food products. When I talk about this one I'm really talking to me. When cancer invaded our lives I eliminated everything that came from a box and made our snacks myself. Somewhere along the way I got away from this practice as a whole and have begun to make granola, and bars. We drink smoothies for snacks now or, funny enough go with the way of creation and have an apple.
The bottom line is, if you see any behavior challenges in your child or have your own set of attention struggles, layering on oils is only good to a point. We can never oil out a poor diet.
