MARJORAM
herb of happiness and joy of the mountains... or so the Romans and Greeks, respectively would describe Marjoram.
By both the Romans and Greeks, #Marjoram was well love and used for a variety of reasons. It was used to decorate at both weddings and funerals. It would warm the body, (physical) and #emotions in addition, it was believed to increase longevity. With this in mind, I can see why it was a both funerals and weddings herb.
the HISTORY
Marjoram was used as an antidote, (doesn't that make you think of a Super Hero movie?), reduce excess fluid, muscles, stiffness and respiratory care.
uses NOW
What we are at liberty to share now is Marjoram is #relaxing and #calming to the muscles that constrict and sometimes contribute to headaches. It may quell feelings of anxiousness, nervous tension, and circulatory conditions.
FUN FACT
Originally from India, #marjoram is an #herb which has been used for almost 3,000 years as a tea and a medicinal plant. It's not easy to grow marjoram as it is very sensitive to rain and requires lots of sun. For the herb, not being used as an essential oil, after the harvest, marjoram is dried for three days at 35-40 degrees celcius in a specially designed facility equipped with floor heating and cooling, depending on what's required. Once it's been dried, the marjoram is then transported to other factories for processing. Marjoram with too much moisture could combust. With all the dried marjoram lying around in drying stations, the place would go up in smoke.
This alone brings a tremendous amount of gratitude. Who Marjoram was so flammable?
Companion oils: Bergamot, Cedarwood, German Chamomile, Cypress, Lavender, Nutmeg, Orange, Rosemary, and Ylang Ylang.
